Remaining consistent with their unique vocal harmonies and vintage western-rock sound, Bad Mother Nature’s “Excuses” ironically justifies things like laziness and alcoholism with the tired reasoning of someone who’s lost all motivation to justify their pitfalls. It talks of love as a “dangerous game” and emphasizes the ceaseless push and pull of relationships. Hazy vocal swells saturate the song and add to the theme of losing one’s way in a fog of constant excuses.
