The first single from Bad Mother Nature’s upcoming EP, “Hawks, Doves and Gamblers” deals with aggression and passivity and the risks that come with both. It’s a nearly satirical take on modern war, politics and our society’s addiction to “gambling” with violence. It looks at our obsession with war and peace as an addiction, as well as the risks that come with it. The song grooves over a tight, fat drum beat with a smooth rhythm guitar. The vocals are backed up by Bee Gees-style high tones that give the song a popular appeal.

Inspired by current events, “Hawks, Doves and Gamblers” looks at war as an addiction, peace as folly, and the endless risks of constantly pursuing either. Bad Mother Nature often adds contemporary and touchy sentiments to their lyrics, yet this song blends them well into a modern alternative rock sound. The crisp guitar tone rides a tight and fat drum groove, and the band’s signature backup vocals flourish throughout verse and chorus.
